Malibu meets Mississauga in this stunning contemporary home at 1287 Birchview Drive.

“The owner wanted to bring a little piece of California to Mississauga,” says Realtor Rich Vieira of RE/MAX Realty Enterprises Inc.  “The inspiration for this home was the look of a home in Malibu with clean, modern lines, lots of glass with stunning views and premium architectural features.”

The home was designed by architect Georgio Lolos from Delta Design and supervised by General Contractor Bruce Johnston of Multicon Design Build Inc. It took over two years to complete as many materials, including the South American Ipe Mahogany on the exterior, were imported. The long driveway of pale beige Rizmi stone pavers (heated), creamy stone walk ways and wide horizontal steps, draw your eye to the front of this house.

Almost the entire front and back of the home is glass. The wall of windows on the left side, or “living quarters” are framed in off-white stone from the Cleveland Quarries, while the long horizontal kitchen wing features exotic Ipe Mahogany. The wall of glass is capped with “the icing on the cake” - horizontal lengths of copper, nickel and chromium alloy weathering steel. “The steel is meant to rust and weather into a rich colour, adding depth and interest to the exterior,” says Rich.

The architectural glass-inset front door open wide to reveal a breathtaking panoramic view of the 15.24 x 6.71 metre great room with its soaring vaulted ceiling. On the right wall, a Mooje textured wall feature fills the space with curvy texture. On the left, the open walkway that leads to the second floor bedrooms has a CNC punched and perforated panel stained in rich cherry blossom, providing privacy and beauty. The screen and the wall art were designed by Prototype Design Lab to add unique architectural interest and warmth to this large space.

Your eye skims across the creamy crosscut Travertine limestone floor stopping at an inset water feature. Not every living room has its own pool that can be filled with fish, plants or a soothing water feature. This indoor pool mirrors the outdoor pool on the other side of the glass, creating the illusion of a seamless shimmering pool.

The great room is designed to be the centre of the home. From there, wide steps lead to the gourmet kitchen and dining area. It is backed by a wall of glass offering stunning views of the front yard. The back wall is also glass, with a walk out to an enormous deck. The spectacular feature wall encases a trio of gas fireplaces surrounded by classic grey stone.

The kitchen is a cook’s dream and the perfect spot for entertaining with an enormous L-shaped island, custom cabinetry, Sub Zero fridge/freezer and wine fridge, a Wolf gas cook top, double ovens and more. The white oak laminate flooring makes the room pop.

Back to the hub of the home, a long horizontal opening one of the great room walls offer a peek to what lies beyond - a family room at the front of the house with a gas fireplace, wet bar, built-in bookcases and floor-to-ceiling windows, plus a main floor master bedroom and ensuite.

The spacious 5.49 x 4.88 metre master bedroom has a panoramic view of the almost three quarters of an acre lot surrounded by mature trees. The master bedroom features a walk-out to the yard and Gunite pool. The ensuite is reminiscent of a luxury spa, with his and her sinks, a glass enclosed shower and a whirlpool tub. There are five bathrooms in all, each with unique designer sinks and fixtures.

Directly above the master bedroom is a guest room offering the same panoramic view of the yard, trees and pool. Dark, rich, shining hardwood floors lead to two other spacious bedrooms. The bedroom at the front of the house has floor-to-ceiling windows. The other bedroom has a gas fireplace and 3-piece ensuite making it ideal for weekend guests.

You may ask, where are all those weekend guests going to park? In the garage under the house which boasts four parking spots. You can park another 10 to 12 cars in the sprawling driveway.

This is a home meant for entertaining Hollywood style - swim, lounge, cook, relax, enjoy. Indulge in a little “California Dreaming” in Mississauga. The home is listed at $2,699,000 by Rich Vieira, Broker, with RE/MAX Realty Enterprises Inc.  GL
